Ofsted has written to the EACT academy chain after carrying out a focused inspection, following concerns being raised in the summer of 2015.

The inspectorate reported that one school was outstanding, nine were good, eight require improvement and five were inadequate.

Inspectors identified common weaknesses in academies which were less than good, including: low expectations; leadership issues; the quality of teaching not being good enough in some cases.

The recommended more targeting of appropriate support, more support for disadvantaged pupils and closer monitoring of attendance and exclusion.
