3 July 2024 – Important information about your migration to Cambridge Primary Insight
Planning to test early using Cambridge Primary Insight?
You will need to let us know
Cambridge CEM is experiencing a technical disruption affecting some of our internal systems. This disruption has impacted the timeline of migration of InCAS customers to Cambridge Primary Insight.
We are still planning to migrate customers in time for their usual test month. We will be doing this in phases throughout the year. We will be using your most recent test date to determine when we migrate you. So if you tested in August 2023, you will be able to test in August 2024. If you tested in November 2023, you will be able to test from November 2024 onwards.
If you plan on testing earlier than last year, please let us know so that we can facilitate your data migration for your preferred date.
If you have any questions, please contact cem@cambridge.org or telephone +44 (0) 1223 790 122.

21 June 2024 – Important information about your InCAS AfE assessment (Scotland)
We are writing to let you know about a change to the planned migration of InCAS AfE customers to the new Scottish version of Cambridge Primary Insight.
This was scheduled to happen on 1 August 2024. However, we have taken a decision to postpone the migration for the 2024/25 academic year, which means that your school will remain using the current InCAS AfE assessment. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
The reason for the postponement of the move to Cambridge Primary Insight is a potential delay to completion of the Scottish version of the new assessment. This is due to a technical disruption affecting some of our internal systems. All CEM assessments are operating as normal.
This disruption has impacted the timeline on planned delivery of elements of the Scottish version of Cambridge Primary Insight. We wish to ensure a consistent experience for all users of the platform and for groups of schools in particular who share data in Scotland.

16 May 2024 – An update on the move from InCAS to Cambridge Primary Insight
In April we held some sessions to talk through the main differences you can expect to see when you get access to Cambridge Primary Insight on 1 August 2024. In case you didn't make it, you can find a recording here.
We also have a new section on the Help Centre dedicated to the move. There you'll be able to find a document comparing the main differences between the two platforms, and the main differences between the reports.
A few things that were raised in the webinars that I thought it would be useful to clarify:
- We will be migrating your results for the students you are currently testing using InCAS to make sure you can plot the Individual Progress Report with your historic InCAS data. We will be moving 5 years of results, so you will be able to track your current students right the way through their journey with you once they complete Cambridge Primary Insight. You will only see this data on the Individual Progress Report, but you will still have access to the InCAS+ site to look at any historic reports.
Although your access to Cambridge Primary Insight will start from 1 August 2024, your InCAS assessment for the current assessment year will still be available until the end of the current window (31 August 2024). Please don't worry if you generally test later in the window, you can maintain your usual testing schedule. If you usually test in August, you will use InCAS in August 2024 and Cambridge Primary Insight in August 2025.
Many of you have already done this, but if you haven't already, please set up your Cambridge profile. Here's how:
- Access https://sso.cambridge.org/
- Select 'Create new account'
- Add in your details, create a password, and 'Continue'
- You'll get a verification code to the email you're using to register - retrieve the code and enter it into the box provided
- Select 'Verify'
If you're registering using an email address that is different to the one we hold on file (this one), please let us know by emailing cem@cambridge.org

28 March 2024 – Next steps for moving from InCAS to Cambridge Primary Insight
We wrote to you recently to let you know that we'll be moving our current InCAS customers to our new assessment platform to use our improved primary assessment, Cambridge Primary Insight. This change will take effect from our next assessment window, starting 1 August 2024. As promised, I'm getting back in touch with some more information about the move.
With InCAS, you have a generic school login, but with Cambridge Primary Insight you will have a personal login linked to your email address. This means that you will be able to have multiple users connected to your school, although in the first instance we are focusing on getting you set up as the main user - we'll be in touch later in the year to let you know how to add additional users.
Set up your Cambridge profile
We're busy working on migrating your data to the new platform, but in the meantime you will need to create a Cambridge profile (if you use any other Cambridge products and already have one, please let us know).
There's no urgency - you won't be able to access the new platform for a little while yet, but it's something we'd recommend you do sooner rather than later. Once you're ready, here's how (it only takes a few minutes):
- Go to https://sso.cambridge.org/
- Select 'Create new account'
- Add in your details, create a password, and 'Continue'
- You'll get a verification code to the email you're using to register - retrieve the code and enter in the box provided
- Select 'Verify'
If you're registering with an email address that is different to the one we hold on file (this one), please let us know by emailing cem@cambridge.org
As long as you have entered the code correctly, you'll see a 'My Cambridge' welcome page. This is the email address and password you'll use to access the Cambridge CEM system.

17 January 2024 – Important information about your InCAS assessment
InCAS has evolved into Cambridge Primary Insight, and we are now preparing to migrate all InCAS users to the new assessment platform in time for the 2024-25 assessment period.
This is advance notice to you and your school of what the plans are for this, and the support available.
Why do I need to migrate to the new platform?
Cambridge CEM is retiring InCAS at the end of your current assessment window and moving all InCAS customers to the new platform and the new primary assessment, Cambridge Primary Insight.
Cambridge CEM is committed to a programme of continuous improvement of our products and services. We have developed a completely new delivery platform that will be used for all of our digital assessments, making it easier more connected and more powerful for our users all over the world. For this reason, a transition between old and new products is necessary, but we plan for it to be a painless and positive experience for our valued customers.
What will it cost?
As a valued existing customer, we will set you up with a Plus package (£14.50 per student) for the price of your existing InCAS subscription with an inflationary increase (£14.10 per student) in your first year using Cambridge Primary Insight. If you would rather move to the Core package (£9.50 per student), just let us know before your contract renewal on 1 May. You can compare the different packages here.
Each following year, you will have the opportunity to change your package as part of your annual renewal.
When will this happen?
You will be able to access Cambridge Primary Insight from the start of our next assessment window. We will provide you with instructions on how to do this nearer the time. There will be support available at every step of the way to ensure you are all set to go in time for your planned assessment date.
What is changing?
We have preserved the integrity and reliability of twenty years of world-class research and insight, while implementing a customer-led range of new features and benefits which make Cambridge Primary Insight even more intuitive, meaningful and powerful.
You told us We responded I want to see a more modern and intuitive design. We created an improved assessment administration and interface, providing an intuitive experience requiring no specialist knowledge or prior experience to get the best out of your assessments. The reports can be complex, with the data sometimes difficult to interpret and present. We have developed interactive reports that enable you to filter and present insights in powerful ways, quickly and easily. Accessing and navigation the reports can be time consuming and confusing. We have improved access, organisation, and navigation of reports, saving you time in focusing on meaningful insights. Once we have the insight, we are not sure what to do with it. COMING IN 2024 - teacher guidance included in individual and group reports - giving you instant insight to support the best next steps for every learner. Some of the content and language in InCAS is not relevant or suitable for EAL students. We have audited the assessment for cultural relevancy and sensitivity. We are continually improving content for students with English as an additional language. We want a simple, powerful way to share insights with parents. We have created a Parent/Guardian Report, designed to illustrate the key findings of the assessment and aid conversations about individual learning. Will I have access to my historical InCAS reports?
Yes. You will have access to historical InCAS reports.
We understand that for many schools, longitudinal data is a key benefit of InCAS. The student data from InCAS required to produce Individual Progress Reports will be combined with your student data in CPI so that you can continue to see the progress of your current students.
Can I still deliver the assessment offline?
No. There will be no option to download and deliver the CPI assessment offline.
How do I migrate?
We will be in touch nearer the time with instructions on how to access the new Cambridge Primary Insight assessment platform. If you have any issues or questions in the meantime, we are here to help.
Will I get training in the new assessment and platform?
Yes. We run continuous training and onboarding webinars. You can just sign up for one when you are ready to start the assessment process. There is also information available in our online Help Centre.
What if I don't want to migrate to CPI?
There is no option to continue using the InCAS assessment beyond your current assessment window.
You are of course able to decline to auto-renew your primary assessment contract with Cambridge CEM.
We would be sad to lose you, and if there are specific issues that have caused the decision not to migrate, please get in touch with our friendly customer support team on cem@cambridge.org
