ePIPS Retiring
We will be retiring the ePIPS baseline assessment product at the end of the 2023-24 assessment period. This means that ePIPS will not be available from August 2024.
We understand that this news may be disappointing to you, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. We would like to offer you an alternative primary assessment free of charge for the 24/25 academic year. Read on for further information.

Why is ePIPS being retired?
Cambridge is committed to a programme of continuous improvement of our products and services. We have developed a completely new delivery platform that will be used for all our digital assessments, making it easier, more connected and more powerful for our users all over the world.
In 2023 we launched Cambridge Primary Insight as our only primary age baseline assessment.
In the case of ePIPS, it is a legacy product that we maintained for some schools who did not wish to move to InCAS some years ago. Maintaining ePIPS is no longer viable and the technology used to run ePIPs is no longer supported. To make sure you have continuous access to a high quality assessment we've had to make the difficult decision to finally retire the platform
What will it cost?
As a valued customer, we would like to offer you Cambridge Primary Insight free of charge for one year so that you can trial it and see if it suits your needs going forward. We are confident that Cambridge Primary Insight offers schools an outstanding solution to baseline assessment and hope that you will have a positive experience if you switch with us.
We will set you up with a Plus package (£14.50 per student) completely free of charge in your first year using Cambridge Primary Insight. You will be able to change your subscription to the Core package or remain on the Plus package the following year if you wish. View package information here.
When will this happen?
You will be able to access Cambridge Primary Insight from the start of your next assessment window. We will provide you with instructions on how to do this nearer the time. There will be support available at every step of the way to ensure you are all set to go in time for your planned assessment date.

FAQs
Will I have access to my historical ePIPS reports?
Yes. You will have access to historical ePIPS reports if you switch to Cambridge Primary Insight. However, the reports are different so you won’t be able to see ePIPS data alongside CPI data, or any progress reports until you have two or more years of data in CPI.
This will be via the ePIPS platform only. Given that the ePIPS platform will no longer be supported technically, we advise that you download the reports as a backup.
If you decide not to switch, we advise that you download historical data if you wish to retain it.
How do I move to Cambridge Primary Insight?
Let us know that you would like to switch for a free year of CPI by emailing insight@cambridge.org and we’ll set up your new account.
We will be in touch nearer the time with instructions on how to access the new Cambridge Primary Insight assessment platform. If you have any issues or questions in the meantime we are here to help.
Can I still deliver the assessment offline?
No.
There will be no option to download and deliver the Cambridge Primary Insight assessment offline.
Will I get training in the new assessment and platform?
Yes. We run continuous training and onboarding webinars. You can just sign up for one when you are ready to start the assessment process. There is also information available in our online help centre.
What if I don’t want to move to Cambridge Primary Insight?
There is no option to continue using the ePIPS assessment beyond your current assessment window.
We would be sad to lose you, and if there are specific issues that have caused the decision not to migrate please get in touch with our friendly customer support team insight@cambridge.org.
If you decide not to migrate to Cambridge Primary Insight, your subscription to ePIPS will be cancelled at the end of the current assessment window.
