Travelling Northbound or Southbound on the A1(M): Leave the motorway at Junction 62 and follow signs for the A690 towards Durham city centre for 2 miles. CEM is situated on the Durham University science site at Mountjoy, situated just off the A177 and approximately ½ mile from the city centre.
A Park and Ride service is conveniently located just off the A1 (M) with regular services to the city centre.
The CEM centre is a 5 minute taxi ride or 30 minute walk from Durham bus station.
National Rail Enquiries provide up-to-date timetables for all rail services. There are regular services from London Kings Cross via the East Coast Mainline and other major railway stations. There are also frequent links via First Trans Pennine Express to Manchester, Sheffield and Leeds, while Cross Country links Durham directly with Scotland, the Midlands, and the South West.

Durham is 30 minutes’ drive from Newcastle Airport and about 40 minutes from Durham Tees Valley Airport and is linked to Newcastle Airport by rail and metro. Travellers into Durham Tees Valley can take advantage of the free Sky Express (number 737) bus service that links the airport to Darlington railway station, with regular connections to Durham.
