How can you best support EAL learners by using insight assessment data?

Thursday 22 May, 4pm (BST)

Webinar information

In England, 20.5% of pupils were recorded as having English as an Additional Language (EAL) in 2023 in a recent report from the Bell Foundation. With over 1 in 5 students having English as an additional langue, how can you and your school best support these learners to achieve their potential?

Having a deeper understanding of your students’ ability is a great first step in supporting learners, and using baseline and formative assessments give you the insight you need.

In this session we will look at how this insight can be used in your school to:
  • Shape your individual teaching and learning decisions to support EAL learners
  • Shape whole-school approaches to reading and vocabulary which can support all learners, but specifically EAL learners
  • Consider your approach to target setting for EAL learners and monitor their progress over time
