The Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring (CEM) is the largest educational research unit in any UK university, and we are growing. Established in 1983, CEM works with schools, colleges, education authorities and government agencies in the UK and Internationally. We aim to improve the quality of education through the provision of high quality information and our work is backed by cutting-edge research. CEM assesses over 1 million pupils every year and is one of the few establishments in the world to successfully use computer-adaptive assessments in schools. Using specialist software we can provide information to schools about the individual attainment, attitudes and progress of their pupils.
We believe that where equal opportunities exist, all staff and students are more likely to enhance performance and achievement. We seek to promote and maintain an inclusive and supportive work and study environment that respects the dignity of staff and students and assists all members of our University community to achieve their full potential.
